Great Weekend Doing Nothing
So when I come into work on Tuesday morning after the Memorial Day weekend, everyone asks:
"Did you have a good weekend?"
So I tell them I had a fantastic weekend.
They say "Really? Where did you go? What did you do?"
And I tell them that I did not go anywhere or do anything. We stayed home. We worked in the yard some, cleaned the house a little. Mainly I just played with the kids and spent time with my wife.
It was wonderful. I see some of the commercials on TV, like the baby.com "Having a baby changes everything", and the car commercial with the guy who is talking about "cruising around with the boys" and it ends up being his two sons; and I completely relate.
I love spending time at home doing nothing. Playing with popsicle sticks. Shoveling mulch with my wife and 6 year old. Helping my 18 month old point to his nose when we say "Nose".
We do not need a big house, or fancy cars, or fancy food. The American dream of having security in your own house, and the ability to have the three day weekend off work, is absolutly wonderful.
Thank you Lord.
